Creative spaces, tools and collections

Draping Area
A space for exploration and experimentation, the draping area encourages hands-on discovery where you can study different forms, manipulate fabrics and transform concepts into wearable creations.

Swatch Room
Our Swatch Room offers students a wide selection of materials such as fabric, plastic, wood, marble, vinyl and buckles. Materials are ideal for creating mood boards, dioramas, collages and more.
Trend forecasting services
Examine emerging trends across women’s, men’s, children’s, sportswear and streetwear, along with insights on color and textiles. These forecasts predict macro trends 18 to 24 months in advance!
Magazines and print materials
Access the entire run of Vogue (U.S.) and Harper's Bazaar magazines for historical reference, available self-serve in the library. For contemporary fashion, browse the Gap Press Collections — bound books showcasing images from major runway shows, covering the 1990s to 2010s.
Video and audio resources
Discover "Videofashion" vintage runway videos, FIDM Debut student shows from 1980 to 2016 and a selection of popular media (DVD, Blu-ray), including movies, shows and documentaries.
Fashion Future Collection
Created by international designers and manufacturers, this innovative study collections allows you to interact with unique sustainable materials made with Tyvek, mushrooms, audiocassettes, coconut shells and even wine corks.

An artist Book Serial featuring unique, one-of-a-kind issues. Each has its own content, format and featured artists or editors. Available by request at the Information Desk.
Pattern collection

American Fabrics
