Overdues
- Overdue notices are sent as a courtesy and failure to receive one, for whatever reason, does not remove your responsibility for meeting each due date or paying subsequent fines. View your account regularly through My Account.
- The ASU Library uses e-mail for all library notices. Please refer to the library notices policy page for more information.
- If you believe an item charged to your account has been returned, please fill out the library account and billing help form.
- Borrowing privileges are suspended if library fee is more than $25.00. Failure to return library materials and pay overdue fees may result in further collection procedures, including the possibility of action by a Collection Agency.

Standard fines and fees for books and CDs
For all ASU students, staff and faculty, as well as community borrowers, the standard fines and fees are:
- $10.00 billing fee plus cost of replacement on the 31st day after the due date.
- The standard replacement fee is $100. The replacement fee is waived if the item is returned undamaged within 6 months of billing.
Recall fines
- Items not returned by midnight on the recall due date are billed a daily $5.00 per item fee; up to a maximum of $25.00.
- Recall late fees are strictly enforced and only the replacement cost is cancelled when the item is returned.

Other fines and fees
Recalls, videos, Course Resources, and Interlibrary Loan materials do not have a fine free period.

Lost or damaged materials
Lost materials
Materials are billed the cost of replacement.
Damaged materials
The library will repair damaged materials after they are returned. Damaged items that cannot be repaired will result in a charge of the replacement cost plus a $15.00 processing fee. A $10 late fee is also charged where applicable.
Cost of replacement
Cost varies by item. The standard replacement fee is $100.
Replacement cost is dropped when item is returned undamaged within six months of billing.
Refunds
A full cost of replacement will be refunded if library material is returned in good condition within six months of billing.
Paid fees cannot be refunded after six months.
